Simple Installation in 30 Minutes (or Less)

Submitted by trivinci on Wed, 11/26/2008 - 19:21.

We recommend scheduling about 30 minutes to install a two-camera Race-Keeper system.

Caveats...

Less time - Install time is related to routing and hiding cables (e.g., cameras, microphones, GPS). If you don’t need to hide the cables, you can install the system in about 15 minutes.

More time - If you are installing analog sensors (e.g., brake, throttle, steering), allow a bit of extra time.

Quick install primer...

  • Install your Race-Keeper system box

Inside your vehicle – one popular install location is behind the driver seat. You can double-Velcro the system or use the mounting points for a fixed installation.

If you’re using a Race-Keeper Operator Control, place the system box in the trunk or under a seat and install the Operator Control on or near the dash to access the button menu.

  • Lay out cables and affix camera(s), mic and GPS

Attach your camera(s) on the inside of the windscreen using double-sided Velcro provided with your system.

Attach your microphone with Ty-Wraps or double-sided Velcro provided with your system.

Place your GPS receiver in the front or back windows.

  • Connect power

We provide two power looms with each system - cig lighter adapter and 12V direct connect to battery. We prefer direct connect but cig lighter adapter works well for quick installs.

  • Start Race-Keeper and begin recording!

Cameras are delivered pre-focused but you'll have to take some test recordings (or attach a PC monitor) to make sure cameras are pointed properly and are focused.

Depending on whether you have sensors attached, you'll also need to spend a bit of time setting up data sensors.
